Chen Xiaoping is an accomplished painter born in China, who now resides in Canada. She learned traditional Chinese calligraphy and landscape painting at an early age and later studied oil painting. Chen is the recipient of numerous awards at the provincial and national level.
Chen studied watercolor and ceramics at the University of Mariana in 1997, and had her work featured in several private exhibits. Her work has also been chosen for reproduction in a variety of media, including art calendars, book illustrations, and book covers, among others. In 1998, she was named an "Outstanding Artist" by the governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. She was the former arts director of the Community Arts Council in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
